Abigail Donnelly is food editor of Woolworths TASTE and editor of Eat Out, so she’s either cooking and styling beautiful food, or eating other people’s beautiful creations. It’s tough, but someone has to do it.
Tricks or truth? Here’s what sets this food photography apart.
Just what is it that makes the Woolworths TASTE food photography so captivating?
Obviously the magazine invests in the best stylists and photographers in the country, but there are three key aspects we believe make all the difference.
- The team is given much-needed freedom from the client to continually push its creative boundaries and inspire readers.
- The food is as authentic as possible. We make sure it’s not intimidating in any way, but that it still has that much-needed wow factor. There really are no tricks, just really well-prepared food, great props, phenomenal lighting and original angles.
- Ok, maybe this is a trick of sorts: the food is often shot from above, not because it’s a trend, but because that’s the way you see food when it’s plated in front of you.
